As part of its objective to reduce the region’s greenhouse gas emissions and its commitment to the energy transition by relocating energy production and diversifying its sources, Nantes Métropole is developing heat networks powered by renewable energies.
Erena, a subsidiary of Engie, was tasked with carrying out a plan to extend the Loire Center heat network with the construction of two new boiler rooms Malakoff and Californie.
The boiler plant a Californie will be equipped with a 8 MW COMPTE.R biomass boiler and from autumn 2019 will supply heating and domestic hot water to the Center-West part of the island of Nantes and the territories located at South of the Loire.
All the wood used for the boiler is untreated and comes from 60% of the neighboring departments.
