Arcachon city’s Health Center – 1.3 MW hot water boiler

The project

The Health Centre of the town of Arcachon (33) is a reference in terms of sustainable development. The building presents overall “investment/operation/maintenance” performances. In addition to the challenges set by the programme, all the partners wanted to design a high-performance building for the long term.

The choice of renewable energy

The Groupement de Coopération Sanitaire (GSCS) is committed to requiring the construction of a building that integrates environmental performance targets according to the HQE (High Environmental Quality) approach. These include the use of renewable energy, in particular wood. All energy production is gathered in an independent energy centre.

COMPTE.R was chosen to install a 1.3 MW hot water boiler for the Health Centre. The COMPTE.R solution was chosen for its energy performance and respect for emissions. The boiler and its equipment ensure an efficiency rate of 86%. This solution also allows the mobilisation of the local forestry industry, which supplies the wood needed to operate the biomass boiler.

The COMPTE.R’s boiler and equipment

Storage and extraction are provided by silos and 4 mobile walking floors.

A conveyor is installed to transport the fuel to the boiler. This type of equipment can handle different types of fuel.

The biomass boiler can cover 80% of the heating and hot water needs in winter. It is equipped with a smoke collector and a bag filter. These systems treat the smoke and retain fine dust particles. The installation thus ensures a very low rate of rejection.

This boiler is capable of burning a wide range of fuels and has the advantage of being compact (small footprint due to the integration of the multicyclone).
