The realization of the project of the creation of a biomass heating network for the supply of hot water and heating to several public buildings of the city of Ponferrada, initiated in 2015 by the Minister of Development and Environment of the Junta from Castilla y Leon, continues.
The project is divided into 3 phases, the first being the construction of the thermal power plant, equipped with a 4.5 MW biomass boiler COMPTE.R. The boiler room will be designed to accommodate two more boilers of the same power in phases 2 and 3 of the project.
The expected fuel is poplar, pine and oak chips from the forests of the region.
The maximum thermal energy supply capacity is 25,000 MWh per year and the maximum expected biomass consumption of 7,800 tonnes per year, which means a reduction in annual CO2 emissions of 6,000 tonnes.
